I have been using the Infinix XPAD for a few days and this is my review. With 256GB of internal storage, 4GB RAM and a Full HD display, it promises big things especially with the personal voice assistant. But will it deliver? Let’s find out. By the way you can watch this review in video format below.

Price in Kenya
The cost to own the Infinix XPAD is KES 24,000 which I find fair. The tablet comes with an 18 Watt charger, USB cable, earphones and a pre-applied screen protector.
Design
I have the Stellar Grey version of the XPAD and it looks good. The metallic back is very smooth and slippery. The other camera module area is made of plastic and is not that slippery. With the unit weighing half a kilogram, you had better not use it near hard floors. I wish these two regions were swapped. The upside is that no fingerprints smudges will stick to the back.
The camera module is near the power and volume buttons. Below that are the two microphone holes and a SIM Tray. This SIM Try can only be used to expand the storage. There is no support for SIM cards so the XPAD is a Wi-Fi only device. At the bottom is the audio jack and USB Port. The XPAD has a total of 4 speakers in a stereo setup at either side of the tablet. These are extremely loud. Just perfect for gaming and consuming content.
Display
At the front is the 11 Inch/279.4mm Full HD+ LCD display. It’s perfect for consuming video content from YouTube, Netflix and others as well as gaming. The big bezels all around the display although ugly, they do prevent ghost touches from your palms. The 90Hz refresh rate provides a smooth viewing experience.
Performance
The XPAD is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 octa-core processor with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The official RAM is 4GB which unfortunately cannot be extended. That’s because the XPAD does not have the MemFusion feature. It comes with Android 14 operating system and currently has the August 2024 security update. That’s just last month going by the time I upload this video.
Playing simple games is just like watching movies on this device. It can definitely handle these small games that we use to kill time with.
The phone has a gyroscope and game rotation sensor to help with your first-person player games.
Folax AI Voice Assistant
What about the Folax AI assistant? You can open it by launching the app, by pressing and holding the home key on the navigation or by pressing the power button for 0.5 seconds. Folax is capable of a number of things. It can open apps like the camera and Boomplay. It can even be used to turn ON/OFF features like Bluetooth among other things. While it is a step in the right direction. It needs some fine tuning to reach the levels of google assistant.
Some of the usage scenarios of the XPAD is as an entertainment device for consuming content. It is perfect as an editing tool for content creators. That’s because the big screen can gives you space to edit and drag around things that would be difficult in an ordinary smartphone. I found myself using it as a wireless display screen for my camera. It’s big so it I can see more details and fine tune the camera settings.
Camera
What about the camera? The XPAD has an 8MP rear and 5MP front camera. Both of these have flash and below are a few sample photos I took. They are fairly OK. It’s going to be hard to mount this big tablet on a tripod to shoot videos so it’s better off handled manually. The maximum video recording quality is 2k at 30fps. Note that there’s no stabilization. That’s expected though.
Battery & Charging
Finally, the battery and charging. Like I said in my charging experiment video. I expected the XPAD to have a bigger battery capacity than 7000mAh. With all the gaming I’ve been indulging in on the XPAD, I’ve found myself charging the device every two days.
In my charging experiment I got up to 34% in 40 minutes, 51% in an hour and Full battery capacity in 2 hours and 32 minutes. That’s expected of an 18 Watt charger.
