The Infinix Hot S is the first in Infinix Phone in the S series that we might see in the future. The compact smartphone is sleek and elegant at the same time. This time round Infinix is giving us a 5.2 Inch 4G smartphone which makes the Hot S look slender and enables one hand use comfortably. At the front the Camera bezel has some frame decorations to draw eyes to the Camera which has alot of mega pixels as you will see later. The navigation buttons are printed at the bottom which utilises the full screen area.
At the back the Note S is symmetrical with the Camera, Flash and Fingerprint scanner aligned at the upper centre part. The un-removable back cover is made of a smooth metallic material. The smooth finish makes reduces the grip but the slender Note S size compensates for a firm grip during slip.
The SIM tray is built to also house the SD card on one of the SIM slots. Only two cards can go in so its either you use the Infinix Hot S as a Dual SIM smartphone or One SIM with expanded memory.
Camera
The S in the Name Infinix Hot S definitely stands for selfie. The Infinix Hot S has the hottest selfie camera of all Infinix Phones. The 8MP Front camera is the main selling point of the Hot S and it comes with Flash too. The Main camera is 13MP with the ability to record 1080p videos. An extra setting also allows the choice of recording videos in either mp4 or 3gp format. The front camera can record up to 720p videos but it shines when it comes to selfies.
Here are some main camera shots
Performance and CPU
Infinix Hot S comes with Chameleon XOS Android 6.0 operating system. The XOS comes with many features among them being colourful icons, wallpapers and
The Infinix Hot S is powered by a 64 bit 1.3GHz quad core processor with 2GB RAM. This is more than enough for basic functions like social media apps and non intensive gaming. The cleaner widget clears unused memory thus increasing the speed. The X manager app also includes mobile cleanup for deleting unwanted data as well as call blacklist settings.
In the default settings all the apps have been arranged in alphabetical order. After a few days using the Hot S I can say that this works better in locating non regularly used apps in less time. Although there are instances of multiple pre-installed apps doing the same function, a simple uninstall solved that slight problem. Examples of such apps are Google music and music app, Xender and X share.
Storage and Battery
The 16GB storage on the Hot S is expandable to 128GB. Like I mentioned earlier you have to use the 2nd SIM slot for the SD card. You cannot use Both SIM cards as well as the SD card. But its understandable because the Infinix Hot S is made available in Kenya via Safaricom.
The battery lifetime of the 3000mAh non removable battery can last 12 hours on a normal working day without checking on the smartphone too much. With 4G ON and continuous use, that time reduced to around 6 hours whereby I was forced to charge again.
VR
Virtual reality is also supported on the Infinix Hot S. Virtual reality is an interactive video system that requires moving the smartphone around for different angle views just like in real life. VR player apps or games split the screen into two whereby each eye views a slightly different picture for the VR effect. You need a Virtual reality headset like the google cardboard for the full experience.
The Infinix Hot S is available in all Safaricom shops at a price of between Ksh16000 to Ksh18000.
Infinix Hot S Antutu Bench Mark
The Infinix Hot S has an Antutu benchmark score of 35002. The game performance has been bench-marked as being mid level and the CPU score of 11890 denotes that the Infinix Hot S is a mid end device which should satisfy a users daily use. I think the price is exaggerated but according to the features on the Hot S its justified apart from the SIM tray thing.
