Infinix NOTE 30 VIP Review

Infinix NOTE 30 VIP Review, The Affordable Wireless Charging Device

The Infinix NOTE 30 VIP is here and it comes with very new and exciting features. I’m talking about things like JBL sound, wireless and reverse charging as well as a great camera setup and performance. The cost of the NOTE 30 VIP is KES 46,000 and as we already know, Infinix is always generous with their accessories.

The phone comes with a free 15-Watt wireless charging pad, 68-Watt charger, USB Type-C cable, earphones, SIM Ejector tool and a pre-applied screen protector. The other accessories include a phone case and a separate thicker screen protector. I don’t have the latter two items but believe me, they will be there on your purchase.

You can watch the video version of this review below.

Design

I have the Glacier white version but it also comes in Magic Black. The back cover is made of a smooth plastic which is smooth to the touch and does not retain fingerprint smudges. The edges are a different colour from the back cover and very shiny. I like the overall trendy boxy design.

The 4-module camera bump stands out from the overall design of the phone. It’s made up of 3 lenses and the flash. This camera bump and the individual modules don’t stick out too much from the back surface.

108MP Triple Rear Camera

The phone can be easily held with one hand and as big as it looks, and with a wireless charging circuitry included, I expected it to weigh more than 195 grams.

The power and volume buttons are located on the right and at the bottom it has the headphone jack, microphone, USB C port and the speaker outlet. The other JBL speaker is located at the top right next to the secondary microphone.

Just by holding the phone it’s clear that it utilizes the back cover as a reverberation surface for louder sound output. The phone produces very clear mids and highs with just a little dab of bass.

The SIM Tray on the left can hold 2 Nano SIM cards and an SD card. By the way this phone can support 5G network. For that price I wouldn’t expect less.

AMOLED Display

At the front is the big 6.67 Inch/169.4mm Full HD+ AMOLED display with an in screen fingerprint scanner. It’s very fast. The display is bright even in direct sunshine and is perfect for consuming video content from YouTube, Netflix and others as well as gaming.

It can display animations smoothly thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate. To prolong battery life it’s recommended to use the Auto switch refresh rate because not all apps can utilize anything higher than 60Hz.

Another big advantage of an AMOLED display is having the always ON Display feature. Its available in the personalization settings and you and choose wat you want to be displayed. The choices are some different coloured artwork, date and time, battery percentage and message notifications. Although it is not technically always ON. To activate it you can pick up the phone or touch the screen once. The always ON display will pop up without unlocking the phone.

Performance

The NOTE 30 VIP is powered by the 6nm Dimensity 8050 processor with a Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. The official RAM is a massive 12 Gigabytes which can be extended up to an insane 21GB with RAM expansion. This of course will use a portion of the generous 256 Gigabytes of internal storage.

If you’re looking for a gaming device then this here is your answer. Because these specs are too high for normal social media and video consumption.

The NOTE 30 VIP uses XOS version 13.0.0 which is based on Android 13 operating system. With the recent software update, it now has the March 2023 security patch.

Camera

The NOTE 30 VIP has a triple rear camera set up at the back. The primary lens is 108MP followed by a 2MP AICAM and a 2MP macro lens. At the front is a 32MP dot in in display lens with LED flash.

With 108MP photography selected, the resulting images are big in size and incredibly detailed. This means you can zoom in to get details you’d otherwise not see in a normal photo. You can see all these samples in my review video above.

Photos from the front and rear cameras are clear, sharp and detailed. Photos from the night mode are come out very nice when compared to the normal photo.

The maximum video recording quality is 4K @ 30 fps. That’s for both the front and rear cameras. The other qualities are 1080p at both 30 and 60fps. The dual view feature enables one to shoot videos using both the front and rear cameras at the same time. This is perfect for vlogging.

The NOTE 30 VIP also offers excellent video stabilization on both the front and rear cameras.

Battery & Charging

I usually end my reviews with a detailed battery and charging section that includes a charging experiment. This time round I have a separate review for the wired, wireless and reverse charging. You can read and watch all about that and about how I reverse charged an iPhone here.

In conclusion, the NOTE 30 VIP exceeded my expectations. From the JBL sound, wireless and reverse charging as well as a beautiful phone with an amazing screen. What did you think of the price? I thought it was fair because of all the features delivered. That’s it. Please let me know what you think of my review in the comments below. Thank you for reading and watching and goodbye.
