The Tecno Camon 16 Premier has an impressive camera setup. Amog the amazing features that this smartphone has are 4K recording, image stabilization and super night mode. Lets start with the rear camera setup.

Quad camera setup on the back of the Tecno Camon 16 Premier

At the back of the Camon 16 premier we have the 4 cameras as well as the quad flash. All these are housed in a centrally places square camera bump. Let us start with the front Camera setup

48MP +8MP Dual Front Camera

The main front camera is 48MP with the 8MP camera being the secondary wide angle lens. This is a screen shot of my video. This was taken using the 48MP front camera.

Compare that with a shot from the wide angle lens. Look at how much detail there is in the background. The image looks a little faded but that is because it is only an 8MP lens.

Quad Rear Camera

The main camera is the 64MP lens but in normal mode the photos take are limited to 16MP. The 64MP option has to be manually selected. These are the photo sizes while n 1X zoom.

You can see that the 64MP option in the middle photo has bigger picture sizes than th normal 16MP mode. This is a sample photo taken using the normal 16MP mode.

The photos taken using the zoom function are also well detailed. Zoom in a lot more and the outcome will be blurry and pixilated. The following power transformer seems very close. I took this photo with a 3X zoom at ground level.

Wide Angle

This 8MP lens can bring whole buildings into normal shots. For example this is a normal shot. This is the Nyayo monument in Nairobi.

The following is a wide angle shot taken from exactly the same place. How many buildings missing in the first shot can you see?

The picture quality is not exactly the same because the wide angle lens is only 8MP.

Macro

The 8MP wide angle lens is the same lens used for macro photography. This lens can take very detailed photo at a distance of 10 cm. The following shot shows the wire mesh details on my microphone very well.

This lens can also shoot videos at 1080p at 30fps. The ultra steady shot as well as flash are also available when shooting macro videos. For comparison purposes, the Infinix Zero 8 cannot shoot macro videos.

2MP+2MP

The remaining lenses are for depth. That makes a total of 4 lenses for a quad rear camera setup.

Super Night

Being steady with your hands is the key to takin great super night shots on the Camo 16 Premier. This photo was taken using the AICAM night view mode. Without the Flash, you cant really know what you are looking at apart from the window.

Without Super Night Feature

The following shot was taken using the super night feature. You can tell that there were some different light source locations based on the shadows on the wall.

The super night feature takes some seconds to compile the mages that will be a single final shot. That is why you need steady hands. A tripod is highly recommended.

Video Samples

The Camon 16 Premier can comfortably shoot 4K videos at 30 frames per second. The other video qualities it can shoot are 1080p at 60 and 30fps and finally 720p at 30fps.

My YouTube video below was shot in 1080p at 30 frames per second. In the video you will see the different experiments of me shooting in normal mode vs wide angle mode. I also have footage with the ultra steady feature OFF as well as ON for easy comparison.

Ultra Steady

If you skipped the video above then here are 4 second clips showing the outcome of the Ultra steady feature. The Camon 16 Premier achieves this by zooming in on the video and correcting the hand movements with the onboard gyroscope.

Here s one of the reaction to my twitter video above

Slow Motion

The Infinix Zerp8 smartphone had the slowmotion feature. The highest frame rate while shooting slowmo footage is 960fps. Unfortunately the Tecno Camon 16 Premier does not have the slow motion feature.

Here are some more comparisons between the Tecno Camon 16 Premier and the Infinix Zero 8

The two devices are actually very similar.

Conclusion

The cameras and camera features on the Tecno Camon 16 Premier do actually exceed expectations. I highly recommend this phone. Finally here is a bonus gaming video.
