TECNO DroidPad 8II Is Truly For The Smart People

The Tecno DroidPad 8II is a premium looking tablet that doesn’t  seem to have any gender. It is fashionable and  its 8 inch screen is one of its selling points. What are tablets made for? Are they too big holding to your year for making phone calls? Is bigger better when it comes to tablets? Tablets are primarily made to bridge the gap between a smartphone and a laptop. The Droid 8II tablet does so by having a bigger screen and keyboard area than a smartphone and the portability of a smartphone.

Performance

With a 1GHz 64 bit quad-core processor, the DroidPad 8II does most tasks efficiently. The processor is supported by 1GB RAM  and I could not feel any heat at the back even when playing games. The only time I felt heat is during charging where the back cover which I believe is in contact with the battery gets warm.

The two SIM slots as well  the Micro SD card are located on the right side after removing a flap. This also means that the battery is non removable which  is a good thing because most tablets with removable metallic back covers usually get dents easily as a result of their size.

On the bottom right corner of the Tecno DroidPad 8II tablet there are two additional navigation buttons that make things easier. The first one is the screen shot tab and the second one is the drop down menu tab. The screen shot is a nice addition but the drag down shortcut is a pretty nice feature.

The pre-installed WPS office app is of big help especially for business people and students. The large spacious keyboard also makes typing easier and faster. I could clearly see how typing notes in a meeting or lecture would be easier. Reading word documents as well as spreadsheets and PDF documents is also made easier with a full page loading on the whole screen. With the Droid Pad 8II you can store a lot of PDF books instead of carrying heavy novels on the road.

What about the Entertainment part?

Okay I have told you how awesome the DroidPad 8II is when it comes to business and maybe studies. But what about the Fun part? Well it doesn’t disappoint either. Starting with the speakers, I think this is the first tablet I have seen with dual speakers. Both the two speaker slots at the bottom produce sound. I know this because if you block one, the other still produces sound.

The 8 inch screen size is great for watching videos, whether from YouTube or files, the big size is really cool. Even better is the gaming part, I am almost getting addicted to some games, especially Asphalt Nitro.

OTG Cable

The Tecno Droid Pad came with one OTG cable I have never seen before. I mean you can charge another smartphone with the red cable and use an OTG capable device on the other white end. In this photo I could watch a movie on the USB stick while charging another smartphone at the same time. This tablet is a power bank with its 5000mAh battery able to charge other devices.

The other OTG accessories that I have tried successfully are a Mouse, Keyboard and a USB sound card. With my wireless keyboard and mouse could make a mini laptop with the Tecno Droidpad 8II. I had to improvise on the stand part though.

The other innovative accessory is the charger connectors where you can choose either a 3 pin or 2 pin plug.

Cameras

Those were quite disappointing with the back camera being 5MP and the front one  being only 2MP. Even though both have flash, they are not that good. I guess user habits made the manufacturer stick with 5/2MP.  You don’t see lot of people taking photographs with their tablets.

Verdict

The Tecno Droid Pad is Truly an awesome device. If you cant afford to carry your laptop everywhere but need a bigger keyboard to type your posts then I would recommend the Tecno DroidPad 8II. Its bigger screen size is a plus for checking spreadsheets as well as PDF files during serious business times and also great for gaming and watching videos during free times. If you are a sales person, blogger, student or engineer you definitely need the Tecno DroidPad 8II.
